Tamenji Daka is young and settling into a new job, where dreamy guys like David take notice of her. They become friends. Maybe something more. Tamenji saw him looking at her legs. Her right thigh with her tattoo. She rubbed her palm over it, nervously. “Why’d you get that?” “You have one right there,” she pointed to his upper arm where he also had the ink lines of an intricate, geometric pattern. “No, not why get a tattoo. Why that design?” “Oh sorry. Usually people are so judgy about them. My design? A bird in flight. My graduation present to myself. New phase of life, that kind of stuff. “Nice. It’s sexy.” She turned her face away. “Sorry, I embarrassed you.” “It’s okay. No-one’s said that before.” She finally brought herself to look at him. His shiny, dark eyes held hers. They were magnetic. “Doesn’t mean it’s not true.” David said quietly. Tamenji felt her breathing slow, captivated. The seconds of silence stretched, neither wanting to break the spell.
